30 May
The Last Day

Today was supposed to be my birthday. Except for the fact that I was born late.

So basically I want a video camera for my birthday. More than anything else. I just want to mess around with it, make some kickass videos, pretend I’m popular, etc. ;)

Today also just happened to be the last day for graduating seniors. I am so glad to be done with school. You just would not believe it. Everyone’s saying about how they cried so much, etc. Frankly, I don’t care. I guess I never really got that attached to anything or anyone here. I have plenty of friends, but I guess if we really want to stay in touch we will, and if we don’t, we won’t, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

28 May
Sealand

This came off of their website, at www.sealandgov.org:

“Sealand was founded as a sovereign Principality in 1967 in international waters, six miles off the eastern shores of Britain. The island fortress is conveniently situated from 65 to 100 miles from the coasts of France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. The official language of Sealand is English and the Sealand Dollar has a fixed exchange rate of one U.S. dollar. Passports and stamps have been in circulation since 1969, however, contrary to many misleading websites and news articles, Sealand passports are not for sale, and anyone offering such are selling forgeries. Within a radius of 500 miles of Sealand live more than 200 million people who enjoy some of the highest standards of living in the world. This area also encompasses the financial, industrial and cultural heart of Europe.
The history of Sealand is a story of a struggle for liberty. Sealand was founded on the principle that any group of people dissatisfied with the oppressive laws and restrictions of existing nation states may declare independence in any place not claimed to be under the jurisdiction of another sovereign entity. The location chosen was Roughs Tower, an island fortress created in World War II by Britain and subsequently abandoned to the jurisdiction of the High Seas. The independence of Sealand was upheld in a 1968 British court decision where the judge held that Roughs Tower stood in international waters and did not fall under the legal jurisdiction of the United Kingdom. This gave birth to Sealand’s national motto of E Mare Libertas, or “From the Sea, Freedom”.
Prince Roy’s heir apparent, Michael of Sealand, wrote the following statement in relation to a recent incident involving a fake Sealand passport. It can be extended to other situations where basic facts regarding Sealand have been misrepresented. This website is the only official website of the Government of Sealand. The website that was originally constructed for Sealand is located at http://www.fruitsofthesea.demon.co.uk/sealand/, and is maintained there for historical purposes.
“We would like to make it clear that after 32 years of pioneering work, and the blood sweat and tears that have been part of the rich adventure in the formation and establishment of the Principality of Sealand, our web site is the only official web site of the Principality of Sealand. It has come to our attention that others are claiming to represent us on the Internet and in the press, even showing photographs of my family and offering membership of business foundations, fake Sealand passports, and other services. Some of these people, it seems, were involved in the terrorist attack on Sealand in the 1970s that nearly resulted in loss of life, and did involve an international incident with the British, Dutch and German governments.” ~ Michael of Sealand”

Going back to what I was saying before, before World War II, nobody just decided that they wanted to found a new country. What does this say? It says that our world is splintering. Before World War I, everyone was experiencing patriotism in their countries. Military parades were held very often. Now, there are hundreds of breakaway groups seeking to form their own nation. The word Country has taken on a new meaning.

Here is an excellent index to some of these groups:

So states my horoscope. It could mean so much.I guess it’s one of those ambiguous ones where it might mean one thing, then again it could mean something else.

I’m going to make one last try at getting a car before my birthday. Tomorrow.

So basically I watched Accepted and Clerks II today. I definitely like Clerks II better. It seemed…more mature. Which is definitely not the right word, as you would know if you’ve ever watched it. But it seemed a lot less stupid than Accepted, to me anyway.

23 May
(title)

Horoscope: You’ll accidentally learn a secret, but will have to keep it to yourself to avoid hurting someone.

Unfortunately I didn’t accidentally learn any secrets today … well, not any that I know of offhand. Schweffy and Nikki and I hung out, and we went to On The Border and Bowie Town Center. It was a lot of fun, actually. Nowhere near as awkward as the last time. Nikki seems really cool.

In other news, Schweffy is the best skateboarder in history. Calling all skaters, you should ask her to do some sweet tricks for you. She’ll do them with unequaled grace and ease.

I had the opportunity to see one of my favorite bands, Mae, play in a show in my area back in January. While at this show, one of the opening acts was a band from New Jersey, called Steel Train. Of course, because of my musical ignorance, I had never heard of them. They were very…playful and extremely energetic the whole time. They would dance around and jump around, and get the audience involved [even though the majority of the audience had never heard these songs, they were singing along].

After said show, I thought they were alright…then a few weeks later, I just got an inkling to listen to them. I looked them up on myspace, and listened to their page nonstop for the next few days. In the past month, I’ve been basically raiding the internet looking for the cd, Trampoline to download. I finally conceded the other day, and bought the cd. Of course, as soon as i downloaded it [and legally at that!], someone sends me a link to pirate it.

But I have to admit, I’m glad I paid for this cd. These folks should get all the recognition in the world. Its an excellent cd. I think that they have a unique sound. The music is catchy, and the lyrics are pretty good as well. I think its kind of…weird [for lack of a better word] that the lyrics may seem kind of…depressing. but it seems really upbeat if you ignored the lyrics. For instance, in the song “I feel Weird”, it’s quite obvious that the song is talking about 9/11, by listening to the lyrics. but if you just listen to the melody, it makes you want to dance to it.

So yeah. The point is…listen to Steel Train. lol. I have their cd entitled “Trampoline”…you should too! :D

So apparently I’m not getting a car loan from my mom. I’m going to have to wait until I’m 18 and then I can apply for a loan. Doesn’t mean I’m even going to get one. So. That’s exactly four weeks away until I can apply for a loan. I’m counting down.

Horoscope: There’s nothing you can do to stop time from going by so fast, so you better enjoy every day.

I was just thinking last night about how fast May has been going. It’s my last chance to see a lot of people from school, and possibly hang out with them. And I fully plan to enjoy every day. I have things planned nearly every day this week.

My mom’s going to be in Tennessee starting tomorrow and she won’t be back until Sunday. I’ll be living at my dad’s pretty much. Coolcool!!

16 May
Horoscope = true

Yesterday Alexa told me to subscribe to a horoscope txt message system. She said it was mysteriously ALWAYS true. I didn’t believe in that crap, but I thought to myself that I had nothing to lose, so I did.

Today my horoscope was: “Don’t be quick to judge a new person in your group. You might end up liking them more than you think.”

We organized our old Outback Crew (Me, Schweffy, Ade, Alexis, and Kim) to chill again. We haven’t since November. But at the last minute, Alexis and Ade backed out. Then, Schweffy decided to invite Nikki. So it was me, the Orchowskis, and Nikki.

Awkward?

Well not really. I’ve been in more awkward situations than that. A lot more. But I remembered my horoscope … and I didn’t back out. Nikki seems pretty cool. A good first impression, anyway.
