The Latest on Brett Favre
Author: Aaron J01.07.2009
I think Brett Favre is going to make his decision this month.
Pro Football Talk thinks he is going to make his decision this week. This is based on the recent statement that barring a major setback, Favre will attend the Vikings training camp. Speculations flew, especially as Brad Childress was unavailable for comment, being on a fishing trip with Andy Reid in Alaska. But now, he’s back. And tickets go on sale July 9. Since the Vikings had some ticket sales troubles last year, it would definitely boost sales to be able to announce that Brett Favre has decided to play for them.
The only question, if he does, is what would happen to their QB situation.

It seems highly unlikely that the Vikes are going to keep both Rosenfels and Jackson. It also seems unlikely that they’ll get rid of John David Booty, their hope for the future, especially given how old Favre is. I’d say they should get rid of Tarvaris Jackson. The only question about Booty should be what number he’s going to get; he wears the sacred number 4 currently. He could always have #7 (currently held by Jackson). He wore #10 in college, but it is retired by the Vikings for Fran Tarkenton.

Or they could just pull a Steelers and have 4 quarterbacks?

There’s nowhere for Jackson to go. All the teams who needed quarterbacks now have them. Even Leftwich and Garcia are signed.

I think he should stay. The Vikings already have the cap room for what Favre was making in New York even without releasing anybody.

I also think they should keep Jackson and Rosenfels. Get rid of Bootie.

Rosenfels is past it, but Jackson is worthless. What a decision to make.

oh wait… Brett Favre is past it too!! Seriously, how long is he going to play for the vikes, even if he does get signed?
