Fantasy Baseball
Author: Aaron JSo Andrew invited me to play in his fantasy baseball league. Not as obsessed with baseball as he is, I figured he and his baseball nerds (Josh Malamud comes to mind) would own me, but out of politeness I joined. Also for the chance that I might actually beat him.
So here’s my team for today:

And Saturday:

Todd Helton is having an excellent start, so I figured I’d take him off the bench and see what happens. Also, I dropped Alfredo Aceves and added Kevin Gregg, who mopped the floor with the Orioles (including Miguel Tejada) at the end of today’s game. He has an awesome side-arm pitching style and is deadly accurate– he found the far corner of the strike zone every single time.
Also, the Pirates had a lovely start. I PrntScrn’d it to remember this forever:

Author: Aaron JI’m going to need to go to some more Pirates games this next season. Now, I have never ever been to a Pirates game, whether in PNC Park or otherwise, where we won. I asked Andrew who the three worst teams were going to be this year, and he said the Pirates, Nationals, and Padres. If that’s the case, these games should be good:
June 8 – PIT@WAS 7:05
June 9 – PIT@WAS 7:05
June 10 – PIT@WAS 7:05
July 23/24/25 – SD@PIT 7:05/7:05/1:35
September 4 – WAS@PIT 7:05

Author: Aaron JThe Pittsburgh Penguins have won the Stanley Cup!

The one thing that’s annoying is that people who don’t know me think I’m just jumping on the winners’ bandwagon. An old man (who was apparently Arundel’s old football coach before Coach Mark) came in to Chick-fil-A wearing a Pens hat and a Steelers shirt. I told him I liked them, and he told me I couldn’t unless I was from Pittsburgh. Well of course I told him I was; I knew he thought I had just decided to like the Penguins and Steelers because they’re the best, despite the fact that I’ve liked them for years. But oh well. Once I move to Pittsburgh people will stop hassling me.
More proof I’m not a fair-weather fan: I’m also a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Tonight, they lost 7-3 to a pretty good team, the Colorado Rockies. If they have a losing season this year, they will set a MLB record for most consecutive losing seasons. Right now they’re a little in the red, at .463.
But don’t worry, Buccos! We aren’t the worst team in the league yet…

Houston Astros – .462

Baltimore Orioles – .448

San Diego Padres – .446

Kansas City Royals – .439

Arizona Diamondbacks – .433
*Kait bought me tickets to see these guys play the Pirates :)

Oakland A’s – .431

Cleveland Indians – .420
And finally the hilarious:

Washington Nationals – .292
It’s teams like the Nats that give me hope for the Pirates.
