Post-Christmas

My horoscope:

You can’t help but feel a little let-down, but you actually have a lot to look forward to.

This was really only half true. I didn’t actually feel let down. I had finally gotten an Ipod! However, I did still have a lot to look forward to, as the second Christmas party, this time with my dad’s girlfriend instead of my mom, took place. I got more stuff:

- Steelers hat (yes another one, this one not reversible but thicker)
- Jacket (was on my Christmas list!)
- A Guitar Hero shirt

I had to do some last minute shopping at the mall the day before, but I was able to pick up Twilight for my sister and a calendar whiteboard for my mom. My dad enjoyed his pipe matches, collectible nutcracker and Swiss Army knife and wallet. I gave my sister the book and a souvenir bear I picked up in New York City.

So tonight I saw Seven Pounds with Megan. That was an extraordinarily confusing movie. I liked how I couldn’t figure out what was going on though; I hate predictable movies. During the previews, two other movies captured my attention: Know1ng and The International. I’m definitely hoping to see these soon!

Christmas 2008

Christmas 2008-It’s been a Christmas I will not soon forget.  It really wasn’t about the gifts either. I mean don’t get me wrong, I got some incredible gifs.  But this might be the first time the focus was not truly on the materialistic aspect of the holiday. I think part of this was because I was taking finals when I am usually doing things like decorating the Christmas tree or shopping for gifts.  (I did all my shopping online this year….It was faster and less painless, but a little less festive.) Anyways, this Christmas was the first time that the whole family thing really hit home for me.  Sure family has always been important, but I guess after being like 2000 miles away for 3 months I realized the good thing I had before I left.   To me, there’s just nothing that can compare to being with my family at Christmas. Plus mom’s cooking beats cafeteria food hands down.  But my family really made Christmas unforgettable.

On another note, my biggest gift this year was the Adobe Acrobat CS4 web design premium….I’m still trying to figure out how to use it….but maybe I’ll get it.  I have a feeling that I am never going to totally figure it out.  But hopefully I can at least master photoshop :D.

But I hope your Christmases were all great and that you can enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Home Again

It’s been a while since I’ve written on here, but there’s no time like the present…

I made it home from Dallas on Friday night, and I will be staying here for the spring semester. I am looking forward to being home again and going back to my old job.

For Christmas, I have family in town so we are exploring the area even though the weather outside is freezing. It’s been great, but I am still tired from the drive home unfortunately so it’s not as good as it could be. When we went to D.C. yesterday, the ice on the sidewalks by the was frozen and it would have been very easy to slide into the Potomac River. Some of the members in my group tried to slide on the ice without falling in. Crazy fool-I believe he was trying to catch pneumonia…

But anyways I hope you all have a very merry Christmas!

Just an Update

So it’s been like a really long time since I posted. There’s been so much going on I don’t even know where to start. Let’s see…..I decided to go to school in Dallas. Actually, I left Maryland this morning with my family. School starts on Wednesday and I have very mixed feelings about this. Excited, nervous, and sad all at the same time. It was harder than I thought it would be to leave Maryland. I always have a hard time saying goodbye to people as is usual. Two friends specifically will be very missed…..

I am in Tennessee right now at a Best Western in what I think is Cookesville, Tennessee. Unfortunately, we got a very late start this morning so we got here very late….We were all ready to leave about 9:00 which was only about an hour off target time when my dad got called into work to do something which took about 2-1/2 hours so that was frustrating, but we did make it, and I guess it’s not too late. One thing I learned from all this traveling is that Virginia is way too big. We traveled for like 9 hours and only made it into Tennessee. A little bit disappointing, but there is nothing i can do about that.

Sorry if the pictures are not that great….They were taken with a cell phone. Tomorrow I think we will stay in Arkadelphia and then we will make it to Dallas on Tuesday…. So all in all I would say that this new chapter of my life has gotten off to a fairly good start.

So I’ve been having some relationship issues….I won’t bore you with details. Actually, it might be anything but boring, but anyways maybe another time. But I recently wrote a poem about my feelings, and Aaron suggested I post it…so here it is:

Thinking of You

I can’t stop thinking of you.

I wish you could end my pain.

With each time I see you,

A knife in my back digs deeper.

But not seeing you hurts even worse.

You say the distance is far too great

For a relationship to be considered.

It doesn’t matter that we connect

Better than anybody I’ve ever met.

Isn’t it worth just a try?

Do I keep the hope in my soul alive?

Or let these thoughts die?

Who would I be if I didn’t care for you?

I’ve felt this way so long,

Could I bear the pain it would cause?

You look into my eyes and smile.

It’s as if I can see and feel your care.

I wish I could end this feeling.

I can’t stop thinking of you.

I wish you could end my pain.

So just a little messing around. Maybe someday everything will all work out.

I’m New

I’m the new author that was introduced in the previous post. Actually, he did a pretty good job of introducing me. Except he might have exaggerated things a bit. But anyways, I haven’t posted yet.  I guess it seems kind of awkward to write on here, but I guess I’ll get over it.  I saw an old friend today (also named Megan) that I knew from a few years back.  For the record, San Antonio heat is insane right now.  I forgot it was this hot here.  Anyways, I leave tomorrow for Dallas.  But my internet connection is really slow here…so I’ll write more later, but the new author really does exist.

A new author!

Yes indeed you heard me. We have a new author to our lovely blog. Dreamingdaisy (Megan Bristow) is now an author on penguinpride. She blogs to tell her story…because she has one to tell!

She recently graduated from the wonderful Home School. This school is renowned for its world-class volleyball team. Megan’s interests include going to church, going to youth group, and going west.

She is also very good at soccer, as the CFA Games will soon show.

Megan works at Chick-fil-A, and has been working there since summer 2007. She is now a team leader and bosses everyone around. She will leave in order to attend a college (in the west) where she can study business management and perfect the art of bossing people around.

Her return, however, is sadly doubtful, as she prefers the slower, down-home feeling of the Midwest to the bustle of the cities in the East. Luckily, her Internet presence will never leave us!! :D

PS. It is rumoured that she talks like this. This is, however, not true. Megan is not from Texas, she’s actually from South Canada.

 Welcome, dreamingdaisy!!
