Fantasy DMB

Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is the next level of fantasy gaming… the ideal setlist for Dave Matthews Band.

1. Funny the Way it Is. This is a pretty safe bet; not only is Dave very likely to play this song but this has been his opener eleven times so far this summer tour. In addition, this has been the most frequently played song (29) all summer.

2. Shake Me Like a Monkey. Dave’s promoting his new album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. This is my favorite song off said album. If he doesn’t play it I will be sad, but the song has been played at 23 out of 30 concerts so far.

3. Lying in the Hands of God. Another song from the new album that I like.

4. Why I Am. I don’t particularly like this song, but it is off the new album and it seems to be wildly popular. He has only neglected this song at 3 concerts all summer.

5. Squirm. A good song from the new album that he’s likely to play.

6. The Dreaming Tree. I really hope he plays this one, it’s one of my favorites. Too bad we won’t have LeRoi to do an awesome flute solo at the end but I’m sure Jeff Coffin will throw in something. This song has been played eight times over the course of the summer tour.

7. Crush. One of my favorite more mellow DMB songs. The video was featured on my home page for a couple months. I thought it would be a more rare song for them to play but it has gotten done 14 times this summer.

8. Gravedigger. Another awesome mellow-type song that has gotten 5 plays this summer.

9. Tripping Billies. We can balance out all this mellow with the crazy upbeat Tripping Billies. It’s only been played three times so far this summer but one can always hope.

10. Seven. This song, the next one, and the one after are songs I don’t mind, but they are played a lot at concerts so there’s a good chance they’ll come around again. I’d REALLY enjoy if DMB played Spoon, but they lack Alanis Morissette and it hasn’t been played all summer. I wish they’d play American Baby, but that song literally hasn’t been performed in years.

11. Spaceman.

12. You & Me.

13. You Might Die Trying. Another awesome song that I only recently discovered. It’s gotten 14 plays this summer and has opened the set twice.

14. The Stone. With 5 plays this summer, there is actually a chance that this amazing song will get played.

15. Two Step. This and Grey Street have been DMB’s most popular closers over the summer. I love both songs, but I think I’d prefer to see Two Step.

ENCORE

1. Rye Whiskey. Dave’s obsession with Pete Seeger is shown when he plays Rye Whiskey as a solo 14 times during the summer. I would really like to see this.

2. All Along the Watchtower. By far the most popular finale, there’s no finish I’d rather see than an insane Dave Matthews rendition of this Bob Dylan song.

Wondering where I got all those crazy concert stats from? DMBAlmanac.com is an excellent source.

Metalocalypse

I have come to the conclusion that although Home Movies sucks, Brendon Small can in fact write good shows, as is proven with Metalocalypse. Only there can you follow a band with awesome songs, with people out to destroy them, while they engage in more important activities such as attempting to suck their own dicks.

That is all.

…now with music!

If you’ll notice, we now have music background here.

It’ll only last a little while though…unless “popular demand” forces it back.

Oh another notice…ideas for a sort of “variety show” for YouTube have finally culminated into a project… known as Lollercast. Check out the Beck Holt page for updates.

Well my dad finally got the check in his hand for my car…unfortunately the stupid bank won’t give him the money orders until NEXT Friday! So it looks like it’s going to be another week without a car for me. I guess I’ll make up for it by doing what I do best…overworking myself at Chick-fil-A. lol

I got my check today, speaking of which…saw the line with my overtime pay. Let’s just say it makes it very tempting to work more than 40 hours a week. ;)

I’m going to try to work 10-10:30 tomorrow. Sadly that won’t add up to 40 hours…I don’t think. I don’t really feel like doing the math either. But next week…I’ll make SURE to get 40++ hours.

Very few people actually know what “irony” means. Frankly, this causes me to want to find all the people who do and give them all blowjobs. What EVERYONE (even those who don’t know what irony means) knows that the Alanis Morissette song is anything but ironic.

And I’m getting a bit tired of hearing this.

So here is the little-known exchange which pwned Alanis-haters forever and allowed her to create more, equally traumatizing albums:

rain on your wedding day would only be ironic if you were marrying on National No rain day

~ Everyone on Irony

rain on your wedding day would only be ironic if you were marrying a weather man and he set the date

~ Science on Irony

Morisette hit back at her critics and thought she had had the last laugh:

You all sit there, looking smug saying my song isn't ironic, but in fact, it's pretty ironic that I wrote a song called 'Ironic' that wasn't really ironic.

~ Alanis Morissette on Irony

I had the opportunity to see one of my favorite bands, Mae, play in a show in my area back in January. While at this show, one of the opening acts was a band from New Jersey, called Steel Train. Of course, because of my musical ignorance, I had never heard of them. They were very…playful and extremely energetic the whole time. They would dance around and jump around, and get the audience involved [even though the majority of the audience had never heard these songs, they were singing along].

After said show, I thought they were alright…then a few weeks later, I just got an inkling to listen to them. I looked them up on myspace, and listened to their page nonstop for the next few days. In the past month, I’ve been basically raiding the internet looking for the cd, Trampoline to download. I finally conceded the other day, and bought the cd. Of course, as soon as i downloaded it [and legally at that!], someone sends me a link to pirate it.

But I have to admit, I’m glad I paid for this cd. These folks should get all the recognition in the world. Its an excellent cd. I think that they have a unique sound. The music is catchy, and the lyrics are pretty good as well. I think its kind of…weird [for lack of a better word] that the lyrics may seem kind of…depressing. but it seems really upbeat if you ignored the lyrics. For instance, in the song “I feel Weird”, it’s quite obvious that the song is talking about 9/11, by listening to the lyrics. but if you just listen to the melody, it makes you want to dance to it.

So yeah. The point is…listen to Steel Train. lol. I have their cd entitled “Trampoline”…you should too! :D

“Free After 5″

My dad has apparently seen it unfit to continue through his musical career past this point as a mere solo artist; he has now appointed himself the sole member of a snazzy new band.

Songs? Of the same quality. Well, that’s my opinion. Perhaps you’ll like them? Check it out: Free After 5
